23 amazing tutorials for Adobe Fireworks

I’m a photoshop lover, you know, but i have to say that Adobe Fireworks is an excellent software.
Basically, if you want the best mix between vector and raster, Fireworks is the best choice.
The only problem (specially for a beginner) is that there are just few good tutorials so i decided to prepare a roundup with a list of 23 nice examples.

Let me know what you think and if you know other cool tutorials!

I really enjoyed making this and i hope you’ll like it as well.

13 amazing CSS Frameworks. Which one is your favorite?

Here you a have a collection of cool frameworks to create CSS layouts.
I don’t want to enter into the debate about the use of these frameworks.
So please don’t write comments like “you are totally missing the point, the grids are unuseful…” or “i prefer to use my own hand-code for development” and blablabla…

If you don’t like frameworks, please, just skip this post.
I would like to have a constructive post about the main differences and the most important advantages\disadvantages.
Personally i love the 960 grid system but i like also blueprint and malo.

In general when i use a framework is because i can have a rapid prototype of the final website, because there are easy to remember CSS classes and because i can have a cross-browser object without headaches.

What do you think? Which is your favorite and why?

How to create 3D abstract circles in Photoshop CS4

This is the first of a new series of tutorials about Photoshop CS4 and its new features.
We will create abstract circles in real 3D. To complete this tutorial you need Photoshop CS4 (…), a good graphic card and 5 minutes.
The effect i want to recreate is the typical style of James White but in “3D mode” and in a quickest way.

The ball created in that tutorial is amazing but has two disadvantages:

1) You have to complete 15 steps to obtain a good result and you have to change a lot of blending modes.
2) The final image is flat. A normal 2D layer.

With my tutorial you’ll be able to achieve the same effect but in 5 steps, without playing with the blending options and the result will be a REAL 3D layer.

So…we can start.

Space Circles

Another personal work. Just Photoshop.

I tried to merge my style with that of James White
and….this is the result.
I love to manipulate colors so i can’t no appreciate his works.
James is one of the most inspirational graphic designer around.
