The second picture of Kilchurn Castle is a fake.
Francesco Mugnai - 18/02/13 -
Really?
Petr Šulc - 18/02/13 -
Yeah because on the first picture you can see that this castle is on the shore of the Lochnes lake. BTW, how about Loket castle in Czech Republic? :)
Tiffany Hansen - 19/02/13 -
Actually Kilchurn Castle is on Lock Awe. The Second picture kind of has it on a cliff which it's not on, the castle is on marshy banks.

Awesome collection. You might also like Ksi?? Castle, Poland. Maybe it isn't the most beautiful castle in terms of color but… http://www.en.ksiaz.walbrzych.pl/

I like it!

Great! For info, Predjama Castle is in Postojna, Slovenia :)

Thank you for including Caerlaverock! It is the central castle, historically, for the Maxwell clan. One of my greatest memories is of exploring and climbing all in these ruins as a teenager!

Also, the Castillo de San Marcos in St. Augustine, Florida is pretty awesome!

How did Carcassonne (France) not make it into this collection? It being the largest fortified city and largest restoration project in Europe, and its amazing!

Ahmm the one in Colombia isn’t Santiago de las Lajas, is Santuario (Sanctuary) de las Lajas :S.

If you ever get a chance (and if the region is ever safe enough), visit the fort in the heart of Gereshk City, Helmand, Afghanistan. I’m sure it predates Christianity. It’s not very pretty by aesthetical standards. It looks like a sand castle after a hard rain. The sheer age and the fact that it’s withstood more wars than any of us will ever know is simply amazing. I got a chill every time I looked at it.
