Great list (a little confusing about why Onyx is included).

I must say Coda – which I only bought after much thought and consideration – is definitely the best software tool I have. Plus, it handles FTP as well; Technically, you can do without a stand-alone FTP app if you buy Coda. A+ piece of software.

@ThisIsInspired Thank you for your feedback!
I inserted Onyx because i think that everyone (web designer or not) needs at least one “maintenance” app.
Totally agree with you about Coda :)

Love this list! Simply amazing development tools that I use all the time! I’m surprised that transmit isn’t on here though for a paid FTP solution. Keep up the good work!

  • André - 21/12/09 - Reply

Thanks for this list. Already have a few apps such as 1password and Cyberduck, but will try some mentioned ones as well. :)

how can quicksilver not be in this list????

    • Francesco Mugnai - 22/12/09 - Reply

I was expecting a comment about Quicksilver.
It’s an amazing app but, IMHO, when we talk about web design tools is not “mandatory”.
      That’s why isn’t on the list :)

Ottima lista, io aggiungerei anche smultron come editor, ed è free, un must have :)

Very good text. I’ve found your blog via Bing and I’m really happy about the information you provide in your articles. Btw your blogs layout is really messed up on the Chrome browser. Would be really great if you could fix that. Anyhow keep up the great work!

Tweetie is free after Twitter bought Tweetie for iPhone and it no logner displays ads.

You can add XAMPP for databases tools and Transmit for the FTP software also…

  • Anonymous - 07/03/11 - Reply

I use Transmit for FTP and SFTP access. Its cool!
