iLoveGrey: a free wordpress theme

I’m very proud to present my first wordpress theme: iLoveGrey.
I really enjoyed making this and i hope you’ll like it as well.

Basically it has a nice color scheme, a simple menu, two columns and a clean footer with 3 boxes.

To insert a post inside the gallery you have to use the custom field “gallery_image“.
The image has to be: 920px × 245px.

In case you didn’t know, to add a custom field you have to upload an image (for example with the wordpress media uploader) and then simply copy and paste
the URL of that image inside the “value” box of the “custom field” panel immediatly below the wysiwyg editor you use to write a post.

The “name” of this custom field, as i said before, has to be  “gallery_image”.

Please mind that the gallery works just if you have at least two featured posts. If you want to change this parameter you can apply this trick.

If, for whatever reason, you don’t want the gallery or if you prefer a static image simply open the index.php with an editor and search this line

and remove this part

<div id=”featuredimg”><?php include (‘gallery.php’); ?></div>

Thumbnails

The default thumbnail is 200px × 150px.
Again, you have to use a custom field: “Thumbnail”.

With the latest versions of Wordpress all the custom fields are saved automatically so you have to create them only once.
Later you’ll be able to choose them from a drop-down menu.

Widgetized sidebar

Build-in Flickr box

To use the Flickr Box you need the flickrRSS plugin.
To fill exactly this box you have to configure the plugin options with 10 square items.

Gravatar support for comments

(OPTIONAL) Different style for the Administrator

To obtain this effect you need the Highlight Author Comments plugin with the code below.

Style the comment body:

Style the author link:

Customize the footer

Change the box “follow me”with your links

After that you’ll be able to change what you want in few clicks.

Remember that this theme works with just two plugins by default: flickrRSS and WP-PageNavi

iLoveGrey is completely free and is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 License.
In other words you can use it, you can change it, you can redistribute it (for personal projects) but just leave the link for the credits in your footer.
